The first show on our list is “Star Talk.” The show is hosted by Hayden Planetarium Director Neil deGrasse Tyson. Now Tyson definitely has the chops to carry his podcast program into television. He was nominated twice for the 2015 and 2016 Emmy Awards for the Outstanding Informational Series or Special and is also part of the Best 2015 iTunes Best Podcasts. He has authored several books like “Astrophysics for People in a Hurry” and “Death by Black Hole.” Neil was able to effectively connect with his audience and build a loyal following as years went by.

The Daily

The equally popular podcast in the list is “The Daily.” The show has a clever tagline “This is how the news should sound 25 minutes per day, five days per week”. Operated by The New York Times Daily, The Daily Podcast tackles just about anything and everything that can be discussed on a podcast.

The show’s host, Michael Barbaro, says The Daily podcasts were supposed to be “conversational, probing, and informal.” He further said that when the staff got together, they realized they wanted more intimacy in their news reporting.

This was further exemplified in the program’s first podcast–an intimate interview with Al Qaeda and ISIS correspondent Rukmini Callimachi about how she eavesdrops into social media chatrooms used by the Islamic militants.

Another great podcast people in business have been listening to is the “Tim Ferriss Show.” Tim Ferriss is a serial entrepreneur and he manages to host a series of podcasts that does not revolve on start-ups or business topics alone.

The podcast show’s topics are actually very wide-ranging. He also tackles topics like ways to start an online business and other beneficial and interesting topics that can help newbies and even seasoned entrepreneurs build a stronger business and better brand.

WTF by Marc Maron

“WTF by Marc Maron” really deserves a spot in this list. As a reviewer, Marc’s topics are delivered in a way that’s both fun and exciting. He features celebrity interviews with A-listers like Anne Hathaway, Jeff Ross, and Dana Carvey. His conversations with his guests are very engaging. If anything, he does a mighty good job of keeping his audience wanting more. He is also very good when it comes to picking topics his listeners would want to hear. Overall, he delivers something truly substantial.

FiveThirtyEight

“FiveThirtyEight” is a very informative podcast that focuses on opinion polls, sports analyses, (they were bought by ESPN), politics, and economic news. During the US elections, the blog was able to secure important news and coverage.

If you are looking for straight news reporting, FiveThirtyEight should be your go-to podcast! To add to its credibility, in 2010, FiveThirtyEight partnered up with The New York Times so they can provide more than just the latest news on politics. They also hired the best journalists and columnists to provide their opinions on late-breaking, politically-oriented news.

Invinsibilia

Last but certainly not the least in our most popular list is “Invinsibilia.” Its show concept was based on the idea of making sense of those“invisible things” in our life that somehow gives it substance. It was listed as one of the Best Podcasts of 2015.

Hosted by Alix Spiegel, Lulu Miller, and Hannah Rosin, Invisibilia certainly had the viewers on the edge, wondering if there was certainly something interesting the show can offer. Some of the interesting segments that were aired included “The Secret Emotional Life of Clothes,” “How to Become a Batman,”-a blind kid’s bid to “see” by making a clicking sound with his tongue to be able to calculate distance, and “Fearless”–a story investigating the ramifications of people’s fears.
